Our forum and database has been wiped out by a nasty group that goes by the name "Asian Panther".

But once again, this forum is open to those bright Ilocano ideas and thoughts.

I believe the intruder didn't have any intention to harm our little corner on the web rather than exposing its vulnerabilities. He took advantage of a flaw in the code, made himself God Admin - boy! he could have wiped out our membership database, but he chose not to.

I've since installed the patch.

Good thing we regularly back up our database.

If I am not mistaken, it could have been around 2 PM Oct 23, 2005. All entries after than and before few minutes disappeared.

I noticed entried from me, SuperGlow, Touch, and manang Myrna are gone!

I suspect some problem with either our site or the Wen hosting that the DB was re-applied using the the backup copy. Did anyone notice this?

I spoke with our host provider about this issue and they reported to me that they did a ten-minute window servers maintenance. Unfortunately, they could no give me a link where I could check for any scheduled maintenance on their end, for future reference. However, this was an emergency outage on our host provider.

I've checked all our data and files and they seemed to be still all in the same place. Thanks for the update apo SuperDaguerr.

Btw, thanks for the info. Actually, that feature on the bottom is an OBSOLETE feature. It should only be available for PHPBB without PHP-Nuke installed on. Ngem gapu ta ado met ti Login options tayo ditoy INOL - adda dita sango, ken tay LOG IN link dita Forum Index, isu nga diay Log In Panel diay baba ken saan nga kasapulanen.

Almost all PHP-Nuke driven websites disabled that feature. Thanks for bringing it up, it served as a reminder tuloy, hehehe...

I had disabled the feature, it is OBSOLETE and hopefully it will not add another confusion to us....

apo Daguerr, I honestly admit I could not point my fingers to the culprit liable to the issue. However, I can speculate and assume what could have caused the glitch. Furthermore, I still cannot give you an ETA for the fixture, although, I can look into it.

I think the problem with the No posts exists for this topic is a glitch when entering a --pagebreak--. Pagebreak is when your post, the previous, or your next post is going to be on a new page, but not really there. I have seen several threads (only some) that it is saying page 5, but it is only up to page 4 (of course, numbers there are just for an illustration). So when you Submit, the page is directed to page 5 (but in reality, there is no page 5). Then that's when you will see the Error Message. If you go back and Submit again, you would then obviously posted it twice.

Interim solutions: If you see this message, try to click on the main thread link. You usually see this on the top part of the page, usually indicated with something like this: Ilocos Norte Online Forum Index ? Website Issues, or whatever main thread you are in. You would then look for your topic and click on the last page. If you will still see the error, try clicking on the previous page.

If you submit an entry and you get this message, your post was submitted, the system just directed you to a page that doesn't really exist.

Fix: this is a small bug with phpBB, I will see if I can dig into it. Sorry about that...

Sorry bradaH, ket kakabsat ditoy INOL, I didn't know of any maintenance done on the ISP side. I will create my own SiteScope alert viewer to monitor it's downtime. Sorry about the inconvenience, sometimes, ISP's have occasional hiccups that we couldn't do anything just to wait for them to fix it... :(

I have seen the error (probably an hour or two after it went down). The main cause of the outage is our main Hosting provider. They had Power Outage near their site and caused their whole office to go down in a little longer wait.

When I called them (and yeah, I was on hold for more than 30 mins), they said that they were, at that time, working hard to resolved it. No ETR (Estimated Time of Repair) at that time.

I had to reload some of the modules and settings the following day, as some has lost their settings. All should be back to normal.

Sorry again for the inconvenience. Our new site [ilocosnorte-online.net] has been up, but have yet to put it up for INOL... this is coming soon....

I totally agree trapper. PHP Nuke is really pain now. I have a big project plan for this website, but it is not easy to put it on top of my list.

But I am hoping that the first few months of January 2007, a new INOL portal will be launched. I will still try my best to retain all the cool features that are already here. But will remove many modules that are no longer needed and easily exploitable.

I have recoded most of the modules here (except of course for the big ones that takes precious times to do reverse engineering.).

Overall, there will be a new INOL coming soon. It will be simpler, faster, and more user-friendly... In 2007!!!

To make matters worst, the backup did not complete a day ago. I went back and activated the account again. Will try to finish up our new INOL so this will be prevented again in the future.

In the meantime, you might need to refresh or flush your browser's cache and try it again. (if using Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Delete cookies and Delete Files).

Sorry again for the mishap, sure it was a very bad thing for INOL to happen and in my absence as well. Apologies again.

This happened again appo. The issue is the ISP is either doing some upgrades (not reported) or their system were down, or something. When this happens, it normally gives you error that host is unreachable. After they power back all the servers, it would take a while for the MySQL server to connect back to the host, this is when you will see the MySQL error.

I will try to get hold of the ISP and report this to them. Please report here whenever you see this happens again. Thank you.
