Haan yo kadi nga madlaw?
The richest people in the world are either college drop-outs or didn't go to college at all. Which leads me to my conclusion: College Education doesn't matter much in achieving financial success.

The Wright Brothers, Orville & Wilbur, are highschool drop outs. But they have defied the very basics of human existence: making the impossible possible - Human Flight!
Anakin Skywalker

Brazilians dispute the idea that the Wrights invented the "airplane".
A Brazilian, they say, had accomplished the same feat years before the much-talk-about flight by Wilbur and Orville in Kitty Hawk.
ER_Andres
12-20-2003, 01:54 AM
There may be truth to this.
There is another american who is said to have performed prior flights which may as well be true.
The Wright brothers were wizards in that they documented all their feats.
The other claimants didn't do the same, thus they cannot present evidences to prove their claims.

Leonardo da Vinci thought of human flight long before the Wright brothers were born. Heard through the grapevine :)

Remember this great people has the history of playing as pirates of their own industry.
Great interest and proficiency in their own bussiness plus good timing that results to success. :)
Just like I am saying that if I quit my job a year ago and join a company at that time then I must be financially stable at this time. :)
Can say, success does not only go with financial stability. But success is something like satisfaction of what you want to become, and people expected you to become.
Think of the result of choosing the right decision at the right time at a right place and you can say that I am succesdful for that.

education should not be taken lightly, it's the progressive realization of how much we don't know. Hence, if you go to school simply because of financial gain, then the probability of you failing is almost guaranteed. In the end you'll end up with a job you don't like and sentenced to a life of misery. Live a life simple and yet productive... or you can always try to move overseas, then you'll see how important your so called education (sarcasm). Reality check!!! you don't need a degree to work in mcdonald... Sorry i have seen so many fellow filipinos working for mininum wages. It is a sad story, life overseas is not as great everyone thinks. On the lighter note most filipino living overseas are holding minimum of two jobs sometimes three. I say they're the unsung hero of this generation. School is a place where you become humble and bitter. Consider yourself lucky if your not paying for your own tuition. Good and God bless...damnit why do i sound like an old fart. lol :)
Did you know?
RECENT US government data suggest that having a college degree or an MBA nowadays does not guarantee you to land that high-paying job (or financial success)?
Could this also be true idta Pilipinas?
zachzech
02-04-2005, 07:14 AM
it is true...survey or no survey....financial success or whatever kind of success is not guaranteed with the kind of degree you are holding...it is the person who makes his own success....even if you have all the high fallutin degrees in the world but dont know how to use it, it will be useless....plus of course the opportunities that come ones way are different too...and there lies another story..
DamnYankee

most times tho, if you have all the high fallutin degrees you r more likely the person to succeed. ever notice that?

Private Companies in Manila look at What school you came from? What experience do you have? What can you contribute? How good you are technically and as a team player?
In the public sector you will be ask one thing, recommendation from politics.
Here abroad, you should have a degree, tons patience, hand full of experience and a lot of dedication to your work, then you have a chance that you will have that you called success.
Myrna
07-03-2005, 09:13 PM

Joshraven, ate myrna, hindi rin. i beg to disagree because when your qualifications clearly shouts that you are the best bet, ala ring magagawa ang recommendations, besides if you you know you should have the job and they choose you over the one with the recommendation, then you have the right to complain. Ang problem lang kasi dito, just as long as the candidates meet the minimum requirements of the job, the one with the recommendation gets it... di nga sya ang pinakamagaling but you will also not say that he or she is not qualified either.

So does that mean that the Philippines has already stepped up with qualifications before recommendation?......that's a big kudos to companies recruiting applicants then...may their tribe grow bigger!...for a better Philippines...

but back to the question na is it a guarantee? ABSOLUTELY NOT. take my case as an example. i finished a college degree, i finished a masteral degree, and now i am on my third year pursuing another degree. but do all these degrees make me rich! A BIG NO! BUT, it is very easy for me to land a job, without the recommendations from politicians. kaya what JOSHRAVEN and MYRNA posted are not, in all cases, true. perhaps adda agencies nga agsapul ti backer but generally, it is not that easy to enter the public sector. very competitive din naman ang pumasok dito. perhaps in the Local Government Units they prefer political recommendees but not in the national government. we have the Civil Service to set the minimum qualification standards, pwedeng pasukan pa rin ng politics but not that rampant (in as far as my agency is concerned). i entered government without backers. the agency i am with now is the third government agency i worked with. and i was hired because of my credentials.

my degrees may not have made me rich or financially stable but i know it will soon make me one (naks naman). at least when I applied for immigration sa Canada, i got high points because of these degrees. then when i applied for a letter of support from Alberta, they gave me one and forwarded such support to the Canadian embassy. so in a way, college degree is very important, it may not make you an instant millionaire but it gives you that sense of confidence and could be competitive anywhere else.

so sorry beef for being so bold in my posts. i just dont want to sound hypocrite. i studied hard, earned several degrees, yet opportunities are so scanty. i tried other ventures to the extent of going out of my field of studies, yet i failed. i guess i have done the best i could but i am not satisfied. although im still trying while im still here, like taking up law (hoping that i will pass the bar). if not, i really have to leave my hometown. . .but i will not stay there for long. there is no place like home (kahit gaano kahirap ang buhay dito). i will go there to earn so that when i come back, i will invest the money in my hometown. in that way, i will be able to steer the local economy, create jobs, etc. . .that actually is my noble intention, if not, noblest intention

This is an open public forum, I know that we have some passive spectators, or even active participants in this site that are within this line. I hope that they don't find it offensive when we say something not nice.
I still, and forever will, believe that God only created man and woman. It is hard to ponder why we have in between. Sometimes, it is not their fault, I believe that it is part of the Sin that was committed by the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. It has just been passed on down to their descendants. Much like the sin of Cain, and that's why we cannot fathom why people could or would kill even their loved ones...
It is the Sin in our veins... but we should not feel anything about whether we have this sin... because we know... if we are willing to surrender... Someone can save us from it.... He even promise eternal life...

thanks beef for the suggestion. i've been planning to put up an internet cafe or even a bookstore in batac but i cant find a good location yet. even a private school for pre-schoolers (ala montessori type) is in my mind. again my problem is TIME. i have to prepare the feasibility studies of these businesses but i dont have much spare time. im tied with my work 8 hours a day and my schooling 6 days a week. idagdag mo pa ang pagka addict ko sa INOL :D :D
ngyahaha! Adek sa INOL! Just like moi!
Maybe you should take a day or two off then try to conduct a feasibility study. Mukhang sobrang busy ka kasi, e. Me work then me schooling? I wonder magkano ang take-home mo...san ka ba nagtatrabaho?
Internet cafe? Why not try opening near large schools or universities? Papatok yan!

beef, saturated na ang baguio in as far as putting up internet cafe is concerned, and other businesses for that matter specially now na we have SM. sabi nga ng SM "we got it all for you". net take home pay??? not much but just enough, kasi sa regional office ng isang national government ako connected. just one of the technical staff(s), spending most of the time sa INOL hehehe just kidding.

thanks myrna (manang or ading?). a school for kids is what is lacking in batac, specially yung tipong montessori school. kaso i am not sure if the demand for a private school is really that big. kas tay kunana da a kuripot kano ti ilocano and they rather send their pre-schoolers to a daycare center.

well there are those who wants to have one ngem isu garud ta mostly ket idyay la daycare en ti kayatda a pangikuaan. isu a the school should have a unique, fun and attractive program for children. making learning fun and at the same time developing their emotional quotient. and something that is affordable too. isu a playschool ti panpanunutek met.

ala wen zach. umay ka nukua bumisita ditoy baguio. adda met gayam kabsat mo ditoy. asideg lang ti bsu idtoy ayanko.
agpayso a ok dagit public schools pero gamin highschool lang like mmsu to adda diotoy batac. t kurang jay batac ket pang pre-schoolers. adda day care centers met pero not a good foundation for kids entering the big school. gamin nu working mother ka and you have a 3-year old kid, you tend to send him/her to school na. not only nga kayat mo a makasursuro at that early age but you also want a adda met socialization na. my kids entered school at the age of 3 and at age 4 they already know how to read and write.

Naenroll ko itit Tae Kwon Do ngem I like the other school kunana met, Ala bareng nakaradkad da tao nga kankanayon ta mapagpasak met iti napintas nga pagadalan.
Adda naipadamag idi maipanggep iti hate crimes ba didiay? Ti target dan sa ket asians (there was a Pinoy student victim). Toronto ba didiay wenno Vancouver Joshraven? Adda pay lang kadi dagiti kakastoy nga kaskaso dita?
