Mercy killing (Euthanasia) is not yet accepted in our society because of strong family ties and being God-fearing individuals...but what if.....one of your love ones would be put into a situation like this where in you need to decide to let go because you can't bear his/her agony and no means of cure has alleviate the sickness.what would be your decision???not to mention the cost of life support maintenance.
This is a very painful and delicate topic but just the same,i just wanted to know your opinions..how far our minds could tackle such possibilities and mind-blowing decisions.
(Sapay koma Apo ta diak makabasol kadaytoy a thread)

It is delicate topic. My very first time I've touched on this topic was about 12 years ago. That time I was fresh from college, naive and political. I was against it. Well, it was because the topic was for "Sentencing" (that is, Gas chamber, bitay, electric chair, or the mercy-killing [lethal injection]).

And yes, there are various Euthanasia. One of which is to let go of someone who is in vegie state by pulling the plug.

Four years ago, I did another article on this at school: Euthanasia: right or wrong?

Mercy killing. Let's take the last word there "killing". We should be able to define what killing means. I would say you kill someone or something if you really have extreme hatred out of it. Soldiers kill enemies. Murderers kill people (some hatred or maybe addiction out of it). But would you call it killing if the purpose behind it is not hatred?

Do we call it killing, when the great people in the Bible offered lambs to the altar? Didn't we call it "sacrificial lamb or offering"? There are many cases where we either let go because we don't want them to suffer.

My main point is, I may have written several articles about it but the real pain or gain can only be really explain when you are the family going through this. I don't pray for anything. I only pray that if this happens to me - I'd rather go to Heaven right then than to have everyone including me suffer on earth.

2 cents.

i beg to disagree...
God gave us life and He alone had the power/authority to get it back...

kabsat, let me play devil's advocate. if you had a love one suffering from severe illness and is begging you to end his/her suffering, what would you do? watch him/her suffer until he/she succumbs to death, because ending his/her suffering contradicts your belief? ;-)

oooohhh!sensitive topic nga to...para sa akin lang siguro, it would be a case to casse basis.kasi kung ako siguro ung nagsusuffer, i wouldn't want to prolong my suffering and that of my family's.if I would be living by the help of a machine alone, then what good can i still do?i would gladly relieve everybody of their suffering and mine too.

kabsat, when you say "watch him suffer" han ngata a those who are watching him are suffering more than he/she is? and when the plug is pulled, everybody is "kinda" relieved that "everybody" is no longer suffering?

narigat ti mangibaga a maymayat ti euthanasia ta jak ammo ti feeling ti adda loved one na suffering from a terminal sickness. Iyad adayo ni Apo. But for now, I go by God`s Commandment: "THOU SHALT NOT KILL" --- whether with mercy or not. it is simply written. maawatan met siguro ti amin. Besides, suffering is a given in this world. It is not something that we can escape from. And definitely, it is not a problem where "killing" is the solution.
