HI guys! I really need a survey/ answers/ opinions from you about "what would symobize Ilocos Norte?" like crafts/ materials/ food etc.. cuz my thesis (in BS Architecture) proposal is to renovate the Sadiay Bay-Bay Resort in Brgy. Gabut Norte in Badoc. I am planning to create a wonderful concept that would help boost tourism in Ilocos Norte. Though Im purely Ilocano (parents are from Batac-Vigan) i don't speak it very well but very much understand it.

Any opinions/ info from you would greatly be appreciated! Thanx!:-)

superD would like to nominate:

1. Fort Ilocandia - its unique architecture/design that tourists will surely appreciate when they visit ilocos norte

2. San Nicolas circle - for its "banga" design... eye catching and interesting scene

3. Laoag Sinking Tower - it's really sinking!

4. Bangui/Pagudpud Windmills - breathtaking view...

5. Dingras Ruins --- unfortunately it's ruined

The tabungaw hat, I believe, would best symbolize a uniquely Ilocano tradition, blending art, resourcefulness and creativity from available materials in the region. A well-made tabungaw hat is a work of art in itself.

Another unique Ilokano work of art is a well-made alat or fish basket which is made of bamboo, a ubiquitous plant in the region that belongs to the grass family. A 'cousin' of the alat is the bubo, a contraption which is also made of bamboo, the use of which is to catch fish, crabs, crawfish, frogs, even snakes that go with the flowing water where the bubo is placed. An elaborately made bubo is also a joy to behold.
