This is a thread to encourage sober discussion on what America has done about Christmas particularly the de-Christing of it and converting it to "Holidays"

Am still at a loss why members of the clergy here in America allowed this to happen right under their nose, the banning of the word Christmas during Christmas. Were they sleeping?
Christ is the only reason why there is such thing as Christmas. Without Him, that occasion they call Holidays would have been inconceivable. Of course it is easy to guess that those who moved for the banning of the word 'Christmas' are a bunch of atheists, agnostics and non-Christians. But hey, do you believe they don't get benefited by the blessings Christmas can bring?
Here is one plea to those powerful members of the clergy: Please make a move in the halls of congress to lift this spirit-eroding ban . De-legislate this curse. Yes, in this case, curse was legislated.

so sad Voxdei. but true..we cannot even say Merry Christmas, instead it's Happy Holidays!...I miss how we celebrated christmas in Ilocos, simple but you feel the love.....I tell my boys, when I was a kid, I never expected gifts from my parents... I was already happy when all the family goes to church ( midnight mass). That's christmas for me.

Amen, Kumadre.
In my case, I enjoyed caroling house to house in the neighborhood with my childhood friends where we get patupat, tinubong tupig, and sinuman wrapped in banana leaves and of course some coins. That's perfect Christmas to me.

I share all your concerns.
Sadly if you want your kids to have the same Christmas experience as you once had then send them back home during Pasko.
I too want my son to have simbang gabi, bibingka etc.
The best thing i can do is to re-create that here BUT even here both of us parents are working during Pasko.
Christmas is slowly being drained out of its real true spirit and becoming just one big money making season....just like all festivities from different cultures.
