Hmmm, INOL is making a mini-site of all the towns in Ilocos Norte. Kaya ba ito? Hindi ba kapusoin ng mga data and picture and profile ng bawat town? You'll need lotsa correspondents per town. Wish I can help, but I can't. tsk! Wishing you guy luck on these town sites...
I think it's a good idea to have an integrated provincial town sites :)

I'm planning on going back to PI in December. If it will not be too time-consuming I will make it a point to visit the provincial libarary and try to post the profile of every municipality :lol:

We could really use some help here:
Please Check out the INOL version of Bacarra site (http://www.ilocosnorte-online.com/inside/modules/Bacarra/bacarra.html)
<center>
http://www.ilocosnorte-online.com/inside/images/glimpse.jpg (http://www.ilocosnorte-online.com/inside/modules/Bacarra/bacarra.html)
</center>
Eventually, we hope to be able to give each Ilocos Norte town & Laoag City a flash-based website with a little bit of interactivity. And this will depend greatly on the support from our kakailians (like you), members & visitors alike.
All the best,
gr8-one

Can you make the site load faster?
56K modem maybe alright but for those 33's and below, they will surely be dragging the site.
Don't get me wrong, this is really awesome. I'll furnish some info on Burgos when I have some.
Not just the modem, but also how fast your cpu speed is. My niece has a pentium 2 and she complains about the loading. I have a p3 but she's still a beauty :)

Although it's not the official municipal website, I think it's a good idea. But with the seal, people would get the impression that that is indeed the official municipal website :)

hi MHTS,
INOL used to have the Yabb forum but all data were stored in a text file so managing it was quite cumbersome. That penguin is the default admin avatar in Yabb. I kind of liked it so I kept it when we moved to phpBB.
INOL is hosted on a Unix-Apache server, Linux flavor. Do I work with Linux OS? Not really. All my machines at home have Windows - sadly - but on one, I've installed a package that mimics the Unix-Apache environment.
It's sort of like my "test machine". Whatever is added to INOL, it gets tested on that machine first.
As for the Bacarra site, it's up for re-design. There's a lot of spaces that's un-used and I don't know what else to put. Any ideas?
Hey, thanks for joining INOL.
All the best.

How about contact form gr8-one?
thanks for the clear up gr8-one. i hope that your linux box at home is running now. after you install linux, you also need to install apache, php, and mysql. so you can use it as your new test machine. isu lang a ta CLI (command line interface), so agsubli ka man diay DOS nga daan. but i think it will be great.
as for the bacarra site, it's great so far. i can't think of anything right now, but will update you once i put my mind back on track. napukaw kon sa ti maysa nga bolt ti ulo. i've been studying too much i guess. my head cannot handle three books at the same time. (just kidding)..
good luck lakay!

Installation is a breeze and gets the job done.

That's great Flush. Wasn't it easy to install? Yes, but be careful man!
When you installed Apache (http), you open up port 80 in your machine. When MySQL was installed, you opened up port 3306 (at least by default). So when you connect to the Internet using your DSL or Cable (or maybe dial-up?), make sure you have your firewall enabled. You don't want hackers to get into this port as a masquerade packets. Just pre-caution. It's better safe than sorry.
Flush, if you installed PHP-Nuke (like the one we have here in this site), you will find it more easy and interesting to play around. So good luck, and you did a great job.
One last word...if you don't need any of the Services running, disable them. This will make your computer safer....
=Cheers=

Flushed, Apache2Triad is better.
It's 30+ Megs DL so from there you can tell it's 2x the size of phptriad. But it's 2x the features so it's still worth it.
One thing I noticed though, this application disables AutoCad - meaning, you can't use Cad on the same machine. There might be some other applications that won't work but Cad is the only one I am aware of right now. Don't know why.
Installation is super-easy. Works right out of the box.
Give me your address and I can send you a copy when someone goes home to PI. As I understand, you work in Manila but if you're willing to go through the hassles, you can meet the guy at NAIA.
If you like :)
