Brother & Sisters in Chirst, do you observe this season and ask forgiveness of your sins? Do you take time to meditate & be with with the Lord? What else?

having chosen to reside in another country, it comes as a surprise for many pinoys (including myself) to find out that some of our most-treasured christian values, traditions & celebrations are not observed like the way we do in the philippines.

semana santa for instance.

in the philippines, it's not customary for us to perform hard work/labor during this time. here in the US, there's no such thing. i think even the construction industry doesn't observe it - and to think, it's all hard, manual labor...

this is the reason why sometimes filipinos abroad forget about the holyweek. it shouldn't be the case.

when i was there (Phil), i didn't care much about listening to "pasyon". now that i live in another country, i have this yearning for it... i wish i had listened. i really do...
