how are you doing in ur offices? how is your relationship with your boss & co-employees? how do you handle office gossips? like, hiwalay ba sya sa asawa niya kaya sya ganyan. . . ganyan . . . blah. . .blah . . . and so on and so forth. ayaw mo ba sa boss mo? may kaaway ka ba? But, inspite of everything, we must not also forget our GMRC or proper office etiquette, di bah? o, kayo naman, share your experiences in ur workplace.

I've an officemate that doesn't talk - I mean doesn't talk a lot. He only talks back but as far as him initiating a conversation, nope! He doesn't say hi or hello - it bothers me sometimes.

But he's very good at what he does.

why not u b the one to initiate a conversation? look at him in the eyes, smile, then say hi/ hello, everyday. if he receiprocates what you're doing, wow, what a catch! maybe it'll be the time to tell him what's bothering you. be frank & be yourself. and it will go on a long, long way! there's no harm in trying, start NOW. :!: and by the way, what makes him good in what he's doing :?:

This is so true.
When I was in highschool, I overheard some of my teachers saying the same thing - it's a shame.

It doesn't come as a surprise to me if you choose not to be so friendly at your working palce. With mostly guys around, you're in a "hostile territory" :)

In my workplace we're getting on very well with my co-staffs but with the deputy manager, oppsss...parating may conflict but always settled at the end. The good thing is we always talk in private whenever we need to. Hey... Filipinos here are never been beaten by the whites. Palaban ang mga Pinoy dito at hindi basta basta naluluko. One thing we should be proud of is, everywhere you go, you can always see a Filipino leading the group. Bongga tayo, inuutosan natin ang mga tao sa develop country, mga royal blood ba!!! But gossips, we can never eradicate that desease.

FlushedMx....don't worry about it, if the right time to meet your lady comes...it will...just ask the Lord to guide you......My husband has a story about that. He told the Lord that he was a man, and he could pick out his wife without the Lords help, so the Lord let him, the first time, the second time, and even the third time(he admits he is really hardheaded). After that he told the Lord...no more Lord....I will be by myself from now on...but he also ask the Lord..if he ever marries again, knock him in the head to get his attention, and introduce him to his future wife that he can live with forever......and he did....He found me :).....He bumped his head while entring his car(because of me)

I am a Registered Nurse here in Houston,Texas and there are a lot of colleagues, who are heads of their departments or own companies in healthcare. There are DONs(director of nursing),Unit Managers,Charge Nurses, like me,and some own Homehealth Services that employ Americans ,as well as Filipinos.Homehealth service is the most challenging because, you have to go the houses or apartments of the patients, either they are very rich or very poor.Filipino nurses here are very respected.I've heard stories about the plights of some of our fellow nurses there in England, that they are treated as maids.Correct me if i'm wrong, bec.i don't have the firsthand experience there(England or the Mid-East)

Having fun in your work place is very important. And so is being friendly or courteous to people. Saying hello! hi or good morning is a good way to start a day.

A funny thing happened to me while attending Church there in the PI. I offered my hand to strangers, they all looked surprised and they just MOVED their heads to Nod w/o any meaning. You say hi to people theire, they just ignore it!

I see a need for us pinoys to be ...

Leolionheart, it all boils down to all what we call "Culture Differences". There are so many cases where two smart or even two funny people of different cultures cannot establish a common ground.

One smart guy from one country may found one statement of another smart guy from another country to make no sense. Same thing with cultures.

The last time my parents visited back home, I spent at least a week explaining to them of the "Reverse Culture Shock"; that they will expect when going back. I told them they don't need to expect someone holding the door for them, or someone giving more attention to them when going to a grocery or shopping store.

People who have been exposed to different cultures will find themselves even harder to cope up with "Reverse Culture Shock" than "Culture Shock" itself. There are books written just for this subject alone.

very true. it happened with me. my usual way of greeting people especially elderly who are considered close is a hug or just some close contact. I forgot where i was and i just hugged my host mother. she was glad but she told me that here they dont do that or even pat shoulders. so ill have to really take care the next time.

Welll Talking about bosses...My last boss who was making lots of money an hour.. Had the opinion that he could do anything he wanted. Even take bank deposits home w/ him remove part of it then deposit it later. And he was the same guy that treated his co workers terribly. Needless to say he is no longer working for the Gov. For some reason they frown upon dishonesty. As the Lord says he gives a person what they deserve 10 times over. Either good or bad .

Very true Lastunicorn...PREACH IT!

Working environment here in Holland is very informal. Everybody calls each other by firstname including the CEO (except for the Japanese). They are brutally frank here. At first, shock ako. Very big ang difference with the Philippines, pero now, sanay na sanay na. And yes, they are very friendly but since I am working in an international company you can really see that one's working attitude has something to do with the culture. During coffee breaks/lunch, hearing all the bubbles of converstion in different languages is like being in a United Nation conference.

even in my workplace, we call each other by first names regardless of your position.

my boss is probably the nicest "co-employee" in the wrld. doesn't want us to call him boss. treats every b-day celebrant in tge office - nothing beats a small business...

very true!! they also give bigger bonuses too!!! and no corporate politics, which i hated at my previous job.
