To me very important! lalo na pag alam mo na may mga mabigat kang problema na dinadala sa buhay, mayron tayong Dios na palaging tatawagin dahil sabi niya na kung wala siya sa ating buhay ay wala tayong magagawa.

What if I am a Buddhist or a Hinduist, can my soul be saved if I don't have faith and belief in Christ? Can you testify FAITH?

God is a great being...He always finds ways to reach out to those who dont know Him... I can...My life is a living testimony of my faith in Him and His faithfulness in His promises...you just gotta believe and all will be well and work for good.

It doesn't matter which church I go into.
I've been to a catholic church, aglipayan, INC, UCCP.
So yes, you can say it's not that important - with all due respect to GOD.
In a larger scale "Religion" is not only Christianity. Christianity is just one of the many religions in the world.
Christianity are the people that follow Christ.
Buddhism follows the teaching of Buddha.
Muslims follows the teaching of the Prophet Mohammed.
Taoism follows teachings of Tao, etc...
So the word "Belief" does not only apply to believing in God. It is believing in what the religion's doctrines. Christianity, however, have so many denominational. Doctrines here also deviates from other doctrines, but they still follow Christ.
Now, how important is religion to someone? For me, it plays a vital role in molding someone's life. Atheist don't believe in God, that doesn't mean they don't have religion. They probably follow the teachings of Darwin, which probably make them Darwinism (or some sort) - still a religion.
Religion makes people discern who belongs to their norms and not. Much like Nationality - we belong to a group because we belong to the that race. Without religion, I say, the world would have never become as it is today now.
Personally, Christianity molded me to become a better person. I believe in Jesus as my Savior, and my faith leads me to follow His teachings (Bible) - to become a better person.
This topic is really broad and cannot contain the whole ins and outs of it. But it was great to share all our beliefs!

You are one heck of a guy, MHTS!
You hit a bull's eye here.
I find myself agreeing with your idea as much as I don't want to (am I making sense?)

For me, I try not to make religion so important in my life to the point wherein I may be considered FANATIC. As someone had said, I believe here at INOL, all the big wars were almost always caused by religion.
Religion is somewhat important to me, and if I keep the faith, I'll be OK.

Religions are created by men.
Faith is what saves you. Right on Mr. Flushed!

Q for everyone:
According to James 2:14, ?What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?? And James 2:26, ?As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.?
Think again, is really FAITH or FAITH with DEEDS that saves us?

Maybe.
Every religion is claiming that they are telling you/us the truth. It's up to you/us if you/we believe in them.

Buddhism follows the teaching of Buddha.
Muslims follows the teaching of the Prophet Mohammed.
Taoism follows teachings of Tao, etc...
So the word "Belief" does not only apply to believing in God. It is believing in what the religion's doctrines.
Different teachings. Different religion. Different belief.
Take this, for instance, in India, many people worships animal and over 80% of its population practice Hinduism. If animal is so sacred for them and cow?s meat is not for food consumption, then why do Filipinos love to eat corned beef? Don't you think something is wrong with us OR don?t you think their BELIEF is weird? Should we tell them that cow?s meat is good? Should we just leave them alone and let them continue what they are doing? An Iglesia Ni Cristo, for example, tells you not to eat ?dinardaraan? but a Catholic insists ?naimas a makan dayta.? These religions believe in the teaching of Ten Commandments (and the Bible). But why when it comes to eating THIS and THAT they are completely opposite?
Another case: Our brother Muslim is allowed to have more than one wife while Christians can only have ONE wife. Why is it? If being polygamous is not a SIN, then why not join the Muslim and be like them? What is their basis of marrying a lot of woman? Is this what the Koran say so?
There is a lot more but that's it for now.
Now tell me, which Religion is telling us the TRUTH? Which version of BELIEF is believable? Which teaching is SACRED?
Bottomline: Nobody can claim that his/her religion is the true religion (belief).

Nope.
Actually, there is...
I know some INC members who claims that their religion is the penultimate truth--the salvation of one's soul.

it doesn't matter what denomination or religion you belong to..what matter most is your personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. God is knocking at the door of your heart right now and all you have to do is open it.

Tatay ko ay Buddhist (Chinese kasi sya). My mother is an Aglipayan. I was born an Aglipayan too but married to a Roman Catholic guy. Magkakaiba ang beliefs but then what is important is my personal bonding with the LORD. He who gives me strength all the time, regardless of my religion.

I think this applies to Catholic or Christian believers only, because our Muslim brothers and sisters don't consider Jesus as a son of God or the saviour of mankind. Jesus to them is no higher than Mohammed and does not require themselves to establish a personal relationship with him either.

If you will ask me, ?Are you a Christian?? I say NO! I will say instead, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Christianity and Jesus are different things.
According to Mark M. Mattison, a biblical scholar, "a Christian is a disciple, a FOLLOWER of Christ, a spiritual brother or sister to others.
According to dictionary?s definition, ?a FOLLOWER of the faith of Christianity, FOLLOWING the teachings or manifesting the qualities or spirit of Jesus Christ.?
According to MHTS, ?Christianity are the people that FOLLOW Jesus Christ.?
Likewise, the Noranians support and FOLLOW their idol Nora Aunor. Vilmanians are FOLLOWERS of actress Vilma Santos.
You twist, you shake, no matter what you do, a person that FOLLOWS the teaching of Jesus Christ is identified as a Christian.
If you insist that these (Christians and follower of Jesus Christ) are two different things, I would like you to clarify the differences of your assertion and perhaps enlighten my feeble mind.

Countless people, primarily in Asia, who live in Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu contexts, are saying yes to Jesus, but no to Christianity. As Westerners, we assume that the word ?Christian? ipso facto refers to someone who has given his or her life to Jesus, and ?non-Christian? is an unbeliever.
If you will ask me, ?Are you a Christian?? I say NO! I will say instead, I am a follower of Jesus Christ. Christianity and Jesus are different things. Salvation is in Jesus, not in Christianity. It is not our religion that saves us; it is Jesus Christ besides I?m not telling here that you change your religion.
There are Muslims who walk with Jesus and openly share with their Muslim friends about the Lord, who in Arabic is referred to as ?Isa al-Masih? (Jesus the Messiah).
Some religions like Islamic, Hindu, or Buddhist are follower of Christ but they don?t call themselves Christian.
You can either call yourself a Christian but not a follower of Christ. On the other hand, you can be Islamic, Hindu, or Buddhist etc. but a follower of Christ.
But I?d rather not be a Christianity if Christ is not in my life. As adage: ? Kristiyano sa nguso pero hindi sa puso.?
Bato-bato sa langit, tamaan na kung tamaan.
This topic is really broad and cannot contain the whole ins and outs of it. But it was great to share all our beliefs! as MHTS quoted the previous posts

My father was a very religious man. I guess he was more religious than my mother was. When I was a small boy, I used to see him sit up in the middle of the night praying silently in the dark or get up and light up the kingki with a casapuego and read his Bible. He also led us to a nightly family 'devotion' in which he read passages in the Old and New Testaments and after that he discussed it with us. Then he closes the session with a prayer... He could not eat his food without praying to thank God first.
He was a lay preacher of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and he went to the barrios evangelizing the people there. He had many converts. Until now, people remember him. He attended the UCCP conventions and conferences and sometimes he went as far as Abra.
When I was in college, he used to write me saying that he got up in the middle of the night because he was thinking about me and so he had to write a letter to say he was praying for me. And that melted my heart because I knew he was telling the truth. He has unknowingly shown me. And I believed I was somehow guided by his prayers.
That kind of background has molded me into what I am now, to the credit of my father. My religion made me into what I am and am clinging to it.
