I'm from Currimao, but I went to school in Manila...I never had a chance to really learn how to speak ilocano...Basol met laeng ti parents ko ta they never talk to me in ilocano. Ngem, itan...I just love reading Ilocano, and listening to ilocanos...I'm just sooo mezmerized by those deep ilocano words na nababasa ko dito...Like Degguerson and BBM they were talking abt "sida" they were sooo spontaneous posting...I'm very impressed...Not to offend people from Currimao...According to one of our LINGUISTS in the Philippines...I-laoag is the most perfect ilocano daw...kasi the way they pronounce the words...it is from the book...But I don't care I think Ilocano dialect is one of the best... :lol: :o :D :P
I would like to add more...you guys are very friendly here...I've been to other sites...they were a little bit discriminating...I think I'm going to love it here...thanks...

goria, you'd be surprise how many Ilocanos nga dimmakel lang ti sabali nga lugaren ket haanan nga ibilang nga ilokano isu na.
At least sika, you are still Ilocana at heart :)

Thank you guys, I feel very welcome here...But you know, I'm a very natural person..,.I don't believe in hiding oneself...Gloria is my real name...what you see is what you get...I'm really from Currimao...I work in San Francisco..one of the biggest hotels in San Francisco..and i'm proud of that...I've worked very very hard to where I am now...adda met bassit nga discrimination ditoy...but you really have to show that you can handle things.
My father is the former Mayor of Currimao (Cirilo Quilala)....I used to manage Coral for only 2 years...I'm married with twins (14 years old)...
I have a good position in this hotel...so if you happen to visit San Francisco...let me know...I will give you a big discount or yet for free, depende sa connection...I love Ilocanos...I give respect to them...I want to relate and be connected with you guys...

I'm sooo amazed with the ILOCANO priests...naglaing da agsarita...it's just a music to my ears....my husband is Ilocano but he never talked to me in ilocano...But you know friends told me if I drink RED wine at nasobrahan ko...I'm sooo good in ilocano...FUNNY

wow....it seems that everybody knows each other here @ inol....kasla ak la nakaserrek ti party nga awan ti am ammok (left out)...but I just want to say that I haven't seen an Ilocana so proud. I met Ilocanos here and most of the time they will say only their parents are Ilocanos. They never considered they are Ilocanos too. Glad to here that your husband is Ilocano too.

If you ask my hubby...I locanos are the best! :wink: Loving, Honest, hard working, etc.he speaks Ilocano a bit...the thing is, he pronounce it different.....and that counts... they call us Ilocanos kuripot?...I don't think so.... we know how to save, and that's good!...My husband and our boys think like Ilocanos! :lol:...they were infected by me :lol:

Ngem day-dayawek launay ti panagsarita ti ilocano...Oh my God you should hear me uttering ilocano...agkatawa ka ta kasla-ak la manloloko (oops tagalog na ito)..kasla ak lang nabartek .But, eventually I will learn...I swear I will learn...better than Bong-Bong Marcos na hindi si BBM (INOLErs)....LOL..BBM is very good in ilocano...cannot beat him...no way.

diay anak ko ket kayat na unay ti pinakbet (patani ken sitaw) idi adda ni nanang ko ditoy puro inabraw ti lutto diay balay iso nga nasanay isuna (most of the time I don't have problem feeding him)
auree...kinunam add kasinsin ko(dimmakel da diay bulacan) nga nangibaga kanyat dayta....
Gloria....diay asawak add dara na nga Ilocano he really want to learn more Ilocano...ngem mostly tagalog diay balay mi...anak ko ket saan mo nga mailako no tagalog ti sarita mi..

Hi Marlene, so your hubby wants to learn how to speak Ilocano too?...that's good...my hubby is still trying, I guess my boys(I have 3 boys) are better than their Dad...specially the twins...they pick it up from their friends (from Ilocos region) ...just the easy once though...like komusta, manong, manang, ading, balasang...

Good day. Interesado ako sa topic na yan. Makisingit naman ako. Asawak met ket Taga Manila. Agpasyso, no agsida kami ti pakbet, madi nga agsida nga pulos, sanak kita kitaen no kasano ti panagsidak. Hay naku, basta ako wala akong pakiaalam sa kanya, type ko ti inabraw no kayat na ti rumaman, di ramanan na latta koma ah. Kinakausap ko rin ng Ilocano ang mga kids ko, minsan biro nya baka daw isang araw pagkaisahan na namin sya dahil di sya nakakaintindi ng Ilokano. Kunak met ket di no kayat mo sursuruan ka, eh kaso ti ammo na la nga ibaga ket sao nga dakes. Ano ba yan!!

I'm a new member and just recently signed in. I'm an Ilocano who stayed in Vintar then migrated to Manila then to the US. I was born in Manila, went to Vintar, stayed there from my first grade to First Year HIgh School (Ilocos Norte National High School) went to San Sebastian College in Manila.
Due to this I can no longer speak Ilocano Fluently but I do understand Ilocano. So if people are talking in Ilocano, I simply smile and say hi! Unfortuantely, I have not made it home to Ilocos, yet. I'm currently touring the Phil every time I came on vacation, there.
I can tell you, the Phil is beautiful! I quess, we tend to ignore the things that when we are there but then miss it...afterwards.

There are individuals like you who are Ilocanos by heritage but find it difficult for them to speak the vernacular but they are trying anyway and that's the only way to learn. And when finally they have tried, they feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards. We will be more than willing to help you learn so don't hesitate to express yourself in Ilocano.

College...But I always visit Ilocos every Summer or any school breaks...After College I helped my parents with their business in Ilocos for abt a year and migrated to US after that...We are in the same boat, I understand ilocano, I can speak but not as good like others and Im in the process of learning to write ilocano the proper way. ...and I've learned so much so far... I don't have any Ilokano blood - as my mom is from Mindoro and my dad is a Cebuano, since my childhood days, Ilocos Norte has a very special place in my heart, fascinated ako talaga sa IN. Nung magkaroon ng internet, I searched very hard to find a Ilocos-Norte based, forum, and found this site. I'm actually one of the first members of this site.
I found Ilocanos to be family-oriented, mababait, matipid (the stereotype kuripot is definitely not right), religious, faithful, malambing, morena beauty, approachable. Actually, majority, as in majority ng mga kaibigan ko ay Ilokanos, kaya nga isa sa mga dream qualifications ng dream lady ko ay Ilokana, kasi sa group na ito talaga akong close. I just hope I can find one.
The only problem I'm encountering on this site is the usage of Ilokano language, since I still can't understand Ilokano. Me Ilokano-Tagalog dictionary ako, I can open it since I'm too busy with studies.

Beef, don't be discouraged by that...I've been here for a month already...to be exact on June 17...And It's soo amazing I've learned so much...I can actually combined all the ilocano words together... my ilocano is improving...I can speak better....
I'm so amazed that you love ilocana... ....I just hope Beef that before the year-end you will find your woman...I'm giving you a time frame hihihihi not to pressure you....

Actually, hindi naman talaga Beef ang una kong name dito, e. Kasabayan ko si great-one, sina Anakin and Noel, as in isa talaga ako sa pinakauna dito.
someone promised to to introduce to a pretty ilokana but we never met, hay! But the lady that this someone promised is beautiful... :)
Beef Papaitan - love it very much, too bad it's cholsterol laden, I can't eat it frequently.
Hamo I'll try to open again my dictionary and memorize and understand Ilokano words para mapasama na rin ako sa Ilokano discussion.

Actually your name is cute....I have twins, and one of the Twin's nickname is Bullet...I thought that was very unique, surprisingly meron pa lang may pangalan na Bullet....Why did they name you Bullet????My husband named one of the twins bullet kasi my husband is into target shooting....kaya bullet...

Aha, isumet lang gayam? Diay script [expandit] nga manglukat kadayta ket saan na nga suportaran ti Firefox (I don't know yet why). It also supports IE and NS. Although if NS (Netscape) is supported, I would assume, it would work also with Mozilla.
gr8-one, ania ti makunam. Can you just expand the Quick Reply by 'init' or default? Or maybe add a line of code on the "expandit" script to support newer version of Firefox?

Thank you guys, I feel very welcome here...But you know, I'm a very natural person..,.I don't believe in hiding oneself...Gloria is my real name...what you see is what you get...I'm really from Currimao...I work in San Francisco..one of the biggest hotels in San Francisco..and i'm proud of that...I've worked very very hard to where I am now...adda met bassit nga discrimination ditoy...but you really have to show that you can handle things.
My father is the former Mayor of Currimao (Cirilo Quilala)....I used to manage Coral for only 2 years...I'm married with twins (14 years old)...
I have a good position in this hotel...so if you happen to visit San Francisco...let me know...I will give you a big discount or yet for free, depende sa connection...I love Ilocanos...I give respect to them...I want to relate and be connected with you guys...
I went to school in St. Pauls QC...gradeschool to College...I never had a chance to mingle with the real ilocanos...and damn I really regret that...Karamihan sa mga nakahalubilo ay mga "plastic" hindi natural...Pasensiya kung minsan hindi ako masyadong maka-intindi ng ilocano...but I'm learning a lot...My goal here to reach out with all the ilocanos. It does not matter how good you are in cooking..you can be the best chef all over the world but if you don't give passion/love on cooking sasama ang lasa ng luto mo..hihihihi

agpayso ta kunayo addik......when we go to the mall, and I say...that looks cute...my husband would tell me to buy it ...but I would hesitate cause I really don't want it...I am just appreciating its beauty...the next day when I come home from work...that same thing I saw is already on top of my dresser!.... :roll: :roll: :roll:
I would do the same thing for a loved one. That's my soft spot too. :wink:
