It just makes me wonder why so many Ilocanos leave the province and permanently settle in another country.
Is life so difficult that the only choice people have is "LEAVING"?

Why did you leave Ilocos Norte? And why would you want to leave?

A hospital in Houston (but I had moved since) "wanted" me :) Actually, I took the CGFNS and got lucky :)
And I guess I had no place in the Phil. workforce at that time and I just have to work.

I had no choice - my immidiate family
members were leaving so I had to go along :)
My grandparents sponsored us.
How my great-grandparents got here - that I don't know.

Worked in the "Land Down Under" for 10 years then immigrated to the "Land of the Long White Cloud" thereafter.

I had to - my family is here (Honolulu/Ewa).

I may have left but I took a "part" of Ilocos with me

And someday, somehow, I will return, and bring back "this part" for good :)

Why did I leave? Hmmmm...

Well, I was one of the many who had the chance.
It was hard to pass it up :)

Mahirap kang umasenso pag andito ka, ano? Mababa ang sweldo, mahal ang bilihin, mapolitika. Hay, Ewan ko kung maiiwaqn ko ang bansa natin para sa greener pastures. Parang mahirap sa kin. I wish I can be "may-kaya" with no need na magtrabaho sa ibang bansa. Business travel pwede pa.
