LC to install all streetlamps before Christmas

LAOAG City Mayor Roger C. Fari?as has ordered the city’s General Services Office (GSO) to purchase an additional 100 sodium bulbs that will be installed within the city’s street corners before Christmas.

This was in response to the request made by barangay captains in the urban areas during one of Fari?as’ Rang-Ay ti Barangay sessions. The mayor also mentioned that his order was also in line with the incoming Christmas season this December, and the Pamulinawen Festival slated in February next year wherein fully lighted streets are expected.

The series of robberies, hold-ups and shooting incidents that had occurred recently may also be avoided when all the streets of the city will be lighted, the mayor added.

Mr. Larry Mariano, GSO officer, also confirmed that some streets within the Laoag City proper have no street lights due to some barangay officials who do not immediately replace lightbulbs that are busted or destroyed. He, however, promised to look into the matter after All-Saints Day as GSO personnel were busy connecting electricity to the cemeteries in Laoag.
