A Bowl Of Miki.. remembering the days!

I just wrote it here rather than make my own blog... do u still remember where you and you're friends used to hang out after classes??? Here's mine.

I?ve been home twice this year already, last March where I attended my aunts funeral and last June to attend our family get-together. Good reasons, which I just couldn?t get away with. At the same time valid alibis to get the hell out of the office for a while, haha!

March of 2006, I arrived in Ilocos safely. I couldn?t help it but I needed to go somewhere else before going straight home in Sarrat. I?ve been missing this 'something' for quite sometime now. Too bad I couldn?t find time to visit that place before.

So upon, setting my foot in Laoag, I immediately hailed a kalesa and told the man that I am off to Siazon Road. I don?t know if it was a coicidence that I miss riding in a kalesa coz the guy took for a joyride since he?s just a newbie. I got tired and so hungry so I told him he?ll just need to drop me off at Bacarra Rd. and I?ll just walk from there.

It?s a miki house that I am talking about. Just few blocks away from my Alma Mater, Divine High.

On my way there, I met my Aunt Maria who lives near that Miki House so I invited her but she declined and told me that she needed to finish her laundry. I was a li?l bit early in the morning when I arrived, so that makes me Ms. Buena Mano at the miki house.

The place is still the same; the chairs, tables, the store, the kitchen, everything and every corner of it didn?t change a bit. Including the ambiance, which gives me a warm and welcoming feeling. That kitchen, I was one of the few studs, who saw how they make mikis manually before switching it to that slicer machine. Still hand made but that?s the real magic in that food. It was a delicious homemade product.

A nostalgic feeling, all the memories kept on pouring into my head. I remember during those times where the rest of my female classmates and I would come to this place after school hours every afternoon. Little did I know, that two acquaintances from INOL remembered it well too? Wonderful memoirs, of us endless chatting and/or chillin out before going home. We would reminisce the day and laugh aloud about everything. Tsismis was just another teaser but the hang out was our main reason for staying there.

Since I was the first customer that morning, the owner sat with me and we chat a little bit. She told me that miki helped her out a lot. She never knew that she?d be able to put her kids and they?d become now a lawyer and one is an engineer! It was a successful business and according to her, one of her son is currently handling the mini business now, since she?s getting old.

It was just a bowl of miki, which probably eases the pain in my stomach that morning. However, to me it was a bowl delicious memory of yesterday. Time is gone, as it may seem but the friends lives forever in my heart. Their smiles and laughter are still ringing in my ear. Their faces are still lingering in my mind. It was a bowl of miki, a blissful taste of high school life.
